Exquisite handmade area rugs are produced in such Asian countries as Iran, Pakistan, Nepal, India and China. The area rugs produced in these countries represent a really genuine art of rugs making.
The first known area rugs
come form Persia, Turkey and Egypt, Caucasia and Middle Asia – Marco Polo have found several samples of area rugs
of 13th century while traveling around Persia.
Soon area rugs gain more and more attention, they began to be much valued. For some period of time area rugs
were valued even higher than money, they were used to pay duty. The greatest Egyptian queen Cleopatra presented herself to Caesar… packed in a rug!
