Prayer Rugs

At present time there are many varieties of prayer rugs available. Among them you can find sejadah, namazlyk, and joi namaz. There are also special kinds of prayer rugs that are meant to accommodate more than one person. These prayer rugs are called saph.

In Islamic life prayer rugs play far more important role than in the life of European people.

Muslims have to offer up prayers five times a day, and their prayer rugs must be clean and comfortably lain on the ground. After the ritual of daily prayers is finished, prayer rugs are rolled up and they wait for the next time.

Generally, prayer rugs are produced in Central and Western Asia.

But some European manufacturers also produce these kinds of rugs.

Several prayer rugs may contain a mini-bar for the Koran, which is read during the ritual.
