Braided Rugs
It is not correct to think that the most wide spread knots of braided rugs and methods of their binding belong to Persia and Turkey: many countries use the Persian technology of knitting braided rugs, and on the contrary – many masters braid rugs with the help of Turkey knots, though it is a less spread phenomenon.
Among the less known and spread kinds of braided rugs can be found an economic knot rug jufty and the so called Tibetan method of braided rugs.
The Persian knot used in braided rugs except Iran is used in India, Turkey, Egypt and China. The yarn is twined round one of the basic threads, then comes under the nearby thread and goes on the surface.
The Turkey knot in braided rugs looks really symmetrical. While tying this knot the yarn twines round different sides of the nearby basic threads and both end come on the surface of braided rugs close to each other. Such kinds of braided rugs are used in Turkey, Caucasia, and some parts of Iran (in Tebris, for example).
